District 308 B2 LEO Camp 2009

DISTRICT 308 B2 LEO CAMP 2009
to be held at White Resort Camp, Balik Pulau,
from 4th to 6th December 2009.
Registration fee for Leo is RM 100.00 per person
for those who register before 15th November 2009.
This fee includes a 2-night accommodation
based on shared tents of 4 (four),
2 (two) breakfasts, 3 (three) lunches, 1(one) dinner, 2(two)suppers
& Insurance coverage during the camp.
The registration will be limited for 100 pax
and based on a first-comefirst-serve basis.

The objectives of this camp are:
 To create and foster the spirit of understanding amongst Leos in the District 308 B2
 To instill in Leo members the safety and appreciation of the environment
 To provide activities promoting teamwork, discipline, tolerance, independence and self-endurance
 To encourage sharing of ideas throughout District 308 B2
 To develop leadership potential among Leos

Activities such as Cooking Competition, Team-building,
Treasure Hunt and Fellowship will be further value-added with
other camping skills sessions like the pitching of tents,
selecting campsites, and starting a fire.

We have been invited attend the following Leo Camp 2009 organized by Leo Club of Keat Hwa, Leo Club of Alor Star, Leo Club of Keat Hwa 2 & Leo Club of Darulaman from Region 3. Details are shown below:

Article of Walk for a Greener Tomorrow

“Learn everything you can, anytime you can, anyone you can – there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did” Quote Sarah Caldwell.

I initially about to miss such wonderful opportunity to participate in a Walkathon organized by none other than the Leos from Monash University – Walk For a Greener Tomorrow due to a minor transportation problem I had to face. On this very fine morning, I was utterly reluctant to drag myself out of the bed. But the thought of experiencing something new simply kept me wide awake despite knowing that I was going to wear myself out by the end of this event. When I first arrived, I noticed a familiar face, Leo Chew Jia Xin who was standing at the corner looking lost in the midst of the crowd. Immediately, I approached her and after waiting for 15 minutes, we finally registered our names for the walk. We then had a warm up session to ensure that we do not injure ourselves during the walk.

After the opening ceremony, we finally began our journey into the unknown . Honestly, Leo Chew Jia Xin and I were clueless as we didn’t know which route was going to be taken but to follow the crowd at the front. Soon, we didn’t even realize we had completed the 4km walk as we enjoyed every second of it walking together while we shared stories about school and the careers we’re about to pursue. On the other hand, what’s keeping Leo Ho Zi-Lynn and Leo Ng Jean Hui motivated to complete the walk was to think about :-

1) The ice cold milo waiting for them at the end of the walk!
(In fact, Leo Ho Zi-Lynn had TWO cups of them)
2) The CHAIRS!
3) The 50% off discount signs dangling in front of them.

The policemen of Bandar Sunway were also there to secure the surrounding area.

When we finally reached the destined place, we noticed that many of the participants were already there. Both of us were the last among the fellow PJIans. How did that happen??? We were so sure that Leo Wong Wei Jheng, Leo Cheng Weng Siong, Leo Beatrice Grace and Leo Khor Rui Wei were way behind us. Well, that’s for them to know and for you to find out.

After we chilled with the milo they provided, we had a lucky draw session. Leo Cheng Weng Siong who wanted to prove Leo Beatrice wrong and show that boys were lucky at that moment went home empty handed where else Leo Beatrice Grace went home with a camera and Leo Khor Rui Wei received a hamper sponsored by F&N. Well done people!

Last but not least, we ended this exhausting yet fun event with a photography session. After all, pictures speak a thousand words.
